Presentation at Apostleship of The Sea

In December, Phil Kitson & Martin Dearnley visited The Apostleship of the Sea Mission in Immingham and presented them with the donations we collected for their “Shoebox Appeal”.

Martin also presented a cheque on behalf of Barnsley Circle.

At our August meeting we had a very interesting talk by Fr Colum Kelly of Apostleship of the Sea. The circle president, Andrew Copley, presented Fr Kelly with a contribution towards their efforts at Immingham Docks

Prize-Winning Apple Pie

Our annual family picnic was called off at the last minute due to terrible weather. The judging of the Apple Pie Making Contest took place inside St Ignatius Parish Centre. Here is the First Prize Winner, Phil Kitson, being congratulated by the judge: Dominic Barnes.

Ron Hemingway 40 year Scroll

At the November meeting of the Wakefield Circle held at St Ignatius in Ossett, Brother Ron Hemingway was delighted to be presented with a scroll commemorating his 40 years as a member of the Catenian Association.

President, Bro. Mike Withers made the presentation. On the same evening we held our Mass for deceased members of Wakefield Circle.hemingway

Visit to Villa Palazzola by Province 3 Brothers

Several of Province 3 brothers visited Villa Palazzola, close to Rome to celebrate the Golden Wedding Anniversary or Provincial Director tony Deighton & his wife, Chris. A great week was enjoyed by all which included trips to St. Peter’s Basilica and Castel Gandolfo (the Pope’s summer residence). Including Chris & Tony’s family there was a lovely group of 34 happy people!




Provincial Picnic

On 14th August a good many brothers and wives gathered at Hinsley Hall for the annual provincial picnic.

We started with Mass in the chapel and then had a lovely picnic in the grounds. The weather stayed lovely and a good time was had by all!


Bursary Fund Presentation at St Joseph’s, Batley Carr

On Sunday 7th August, Circle President, Mike Withers, presented a £1,000 cheque on behalf of The Association to Liam Riley of Batley Carr Parish. Liam is spending 10 months in the USA carrying out missionary work and is financially self-supported.

August “Picnic in The Park”!

We had a lovely day at Cannon Hall on the 7th August 2016. The sun shone, we had various competitions & games.
The best men’s “bake-off” was won by Martin Dearnley. He was presented with his prize and commemorative scroll by Ann Withers, wife of our current Circle President, Mike Withers.
